Where I am & What I want to get from cdp23?
Well, first things first, I am currently a graduate student in my second semester and am slowly working my way toward a Master's Degree in Information Science. I came into the program with no library or archival experience so I am trying to grab as much as I can through volunteer/internship type positions. I currently volunteer at the NYS Talking Book & Braille Library and the Albany Institute of History & Art. My goal is to successfully graduate with some experience and some good recommendations and use those things to get a job.
I am participating in cdp23 because I want to learn all I can about participating in the field of information science. I want to learn how to get a job...what skills I should focus on...what other people are doing in their careers...etc. As a new student, I want to be able to absorb and experience as much as possible; cdp23 seems like a great way to do this.
In addition, I am intrigued by the formtl of cdp23. I've never tried any kind of web 2.0 interactive social program like this before and I want to see how it works.
On another somewhat related note my Internet which has worked perfectly all month has decided to slowly sputter out and then die. I have been with out a connection since Saturday. This unfortunate turn of events has forced me to travel elsewhere to use the Internet. Therefore, I am not sure how well I will be able to be involved in the program, but so far it looks like I'll be ok.
Hi! Good luck with the internet and your Master's! I got mine from Albany in 2003, and I know the program has changed a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi, Another Albany grad here! Though long ago in the dark ages of 1979, ouch, old! :-) One of the local library councils here in Albany just finished running a program similar to this one. http://learncdlc.wordpress.com - we're hoping to run it again sometime - maybe in the fall. It would be a great way for you to meet some other local librarians. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHi! Library students represent! Practice makes perfect with blogging, and if it's not perfect, just hit the edit button. To finishing school and awesome jobs!
